President Franklin D. Roosevelt addressed and essentially asked Congress to declare war against Japan. Unlike the gridlock of today, his request was granted the same day. I am a generation removed from our World War II soldiers, but I hate to see these days go unnoticed in our local paper.
I imagine there are a lot of people walking around who haven’t a clue of what occurred on Dec. 7, 1941, and June 6, 1944. These were two monumental days in our history, and I believe that if we remember them, we at least are paying some respect, however small, to those who did serve and sacrifice for us. Maybe next year.
