I am an avid walker in our beautiful city of Durango. My dog and I make good use of the Animas River Trail and enjoy the many improvements over the years. The biggest obstacle is getting there safely. Crossing any intersection has become hazardous because of drivers blatantly running red lights. I have witnessed these incidents many times along the main streets as well.

What the solution is, I am not sure. Do we have enough police coverage to start ticketing these dangerous offenders? Do we need more cameras?

Parents, please be very cautious when walking with little ones. Even when the walk signal shows, look both ways and count to five. An accident of this sort will ruin many lives just because someone is in a hurry.
