With an economics degree and hands-on understanding of financial institutions, his insight and scrutiny would be a significant benefit in analyzing the proposed Tri-State buyout.
As a passionate volunteer for the past three years with the nonpartisan Citizen’s Climate Lobby, (https://durangoccl.org/), John has advocated for climate solutions as the CCL liaison for the 3rd Congressional District. He has presented to local, state and federal decision-makers, forming partnerships with Democrats and Republicans.
John has a long history in environmental economics, and is passionate about reducing carbon emissions. Like many of us, however, he is not convinced that breaking with Tri -State is the way to guarantee financial stability, reliability and carbon neutrality.
A very conservative estimate of financing the buyout price would suggest on average debt per member of $2,500-3,000, and everyone admits that no one knows the true facts, figures and cost of such a break. This information is critical to good decision-making.
I trust John to analyze facts and figures and develop long-term, solid financial decisions for the future and hold Tri-State accountable at the same time. I encourage those in District 4 to vote for John Purser.
