25 years ago: After months of debate over the 18-foot Crestview Ditch, the Durango City Council reached a relatively happy compromise between safety issues and the Forest Avenue neighborhood’s concerns over privacy with the decision to shave 6 feet off the depth of the pit in case someone fell in and needed to get out.
