75 years ago: ”In order to keep water as clear as possible, irrigation is restricted until further notice, from 7 to 9 a.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m. At the present time, muddy water from the river flows into the upper reservoir where it is settled then flows to the lower reservoir and into the water mains.”
25 years ago: “Camino del Rio from Sixth Street to the Highway 160 intersection was blocked off for a few minutes this morning so an aerial photograph could be taken of some 350 conventioneers. Dana Helvey, owner of Pennington Studio, hovered in a helicopter less than 300 feet in the air to photograph those attending the eighth national meeting of the American Society of Surface Mining and Reclamation at the Red Lion Inn.”
