I have some answers to the letter, “Who funded the No Kings rallies?” (Herald, April 15).

Despite the troubled economy, many people found the $3 it cost for a sign to be a worthy expenditure – and some may have had materials lying around at home, making it free. The letter writer is correct that millions of angry citizens showed up, but the organization was straightforward: announce a date well in advance and give people who want to attend time to plan.

The question about why “No Kings” is capitalized reflects American history – it’s a direct reference to the Revolutionary War that began this country. We were shouting “No Kings” centuries ago.

On that note, if one believes living under a monarchy is superior to our democracy, nobody is being forced to stay. People are free to leave if they choose. And I would wager that many do support a billion-dollar-a-day war for profit – fully believing we are fighting “evil.”
