The rim around Fort Lewis College provides a clear view of the fireworks, which will be fired from Greenmount Cemetery. However, it fills up quickly, and the area has a section reserved for FLC’s 4th at the Fort event.Any east-west street that crosses Main Avenue or Camino del Rio will allow for viewing, but Eleventh Street at Main Avenue will be the site of the stage for the Downtown Street Dance. The Town Plaza parking lots can be crowded, but they provide for an open view.Smelter Mountain, for those interested in a pre- and post-display hike, overlooks all of Durango. But make sure you bring plenty of water and a flashlight.

Also, the local radio station, 92.5-FM KSJC, will be broadcasting music choreographed to the display.

11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Includes readings of our nation’s founding documents, live music, the Kids to Kids Flea Market, a magic show with Mysto the Magi and an appearance by Sparkles the Clown. Food and beverages will be for sale benefiting several nonprofit groups. Durango Elks Lodge Barbecue:
Noon to 4 p.m., 901 East Second Ave. Stars and Stripes Parade:
6 p.m. Parade runs from College Drive to 12th Street. Street Dance:
Immediately after the parade at 11th Street and Main Avenue. Music by the High Rollers. Fireworks display:
