Firefighters responded Saturday to an apartment fire on Holly Avenue in northeast Durango.

The blaze was reported shortly after 7 p.m. at the Sunbird Condos in the 2900 block of Holly Avenue. It was largely contained to the exterior of a unit, according to a post on Durango Fire Protection District’s Facebook post. Crews prevented it from spreading to other units.

“Because of the quick, coordinated efforts on scene, the fire was largely contained with minimal extension into the living space,” the post said.

Photos showed one side of the exterior engulfed in flames.

The post did not include details about whether anyone was inside when the fire broke out, what caused the fire and what time it was reported.

The fire department did not immediately provide additional details Monday morning.
