This year, the community is lucky to have two board candidates who are champions of renewable energy and local economic and environmental health. The Sustainability Alliance of Southwest Colorado endorses Jeff Berman for District 3 and Alison Dance for District 4, and we encourage members of those districts to cast their votes for Jeff and Alison.

Jeff Berman, running for re-election in District 3, is a 10-year incumbent of the board, an electrical engineer and a dedicated advocate for clean energy and fair rates. His background and experience provide an invaluable, professional voice for sustainability, and he has earned SASCO’s endorsement through a track record of advocacy for renewables and efficiency.

Alison Dance, running for election in District 4, is a successful local business owner, active citizen and champion of the health of our economy and environment. She understands the connection between energy, environmental health and economic success, and her business experience ensures she knows where to find efficiency in an organization. Actions speak louder than words, and SASCO endorses Alison for her commitment to renewable energy and out of disappointment in the incumbent’s voting record on issues of sustainability.

Ballots must be returned to LPEA no later than 4 p.m. on May 21. Members can vote in person at the LPEA Annual Meeting at 5 p.m., Thursday, May 22 at Fort Lewis College.
