75 years ago: Tech. Cpl. John L. Hogler of Durango enrolled in a special course offered by the Signal Corps’ school at Camp Murphy, Florida. He was selected “on the basis of his aptitude.”
50 years ago: Continental Oil Co. closed its Durango production division office. No layoffs took place, but 24 employees were forced to relocate to other offices.
25 years ago: The proposed landfill site for La Plata County, at the Tinker property near the Bayfield landfill, continued to look promising after early soil tests were conducted, according to county manager Bob Brooks.
