The Durango High School culinary ProStart team received a boost Tuesday night during the Durango School District 9-R School Board meeting. Dave Woodruff, president of the Colorado Restaurant Association-Durango Chapter, holding his daughter, Finnley, 2, and Mandi Davis, third from left, former chapter president, present a $3,000 check to DHS teacher Jessica Bright, far left. ProStart team members are, from left, Madalen Meier, 17, Embrey Saville, 15, Ian Daly, 16, and Sean Myers, 16. “We need to be able to cultivate the homegrown talent,” Woodruff said. The ProStart program was discontinued in 2012, and Bright restarted the advanced class this year with 16 students.
