Never, in my 21 years of being here, have I gone to a community fundraiser that Al Harper and his family were not at. Never once have I seen him leave his wallet in the truck when the community needs help. He spends thousands of dollars every year supporting and loving on our youth and our community. The Harper family does more for this community then most of us combined.
So, Durango, get off the blame train. The train allows us to live this life we love, in this town we love. Perhaps we should stop pointing fingers and start doing what we do best, coming together as the greatest community in Colorado.
Realize that while this fire has burned tens of thousands of acres, not a single structure or life has been lost. Go hug a firefighter and thank them for their blood, sweat, and tears. Hug each other, because we are all still here and thriving.
Thank you, Harper family, for loving this town so well.
