As I watch gas prices rise on an almost daily basis since the start of the Iran war, I think about the 13 service members who have died as of March 22 and realize there is no greater cost than losing a loved one to war.

Those brave souls are: Capt. Cody A. Khork, Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, Spc. Declan J. Coady, Maj. Jeffrey R. O’Brien, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert M. Marzan, Sgt. Benjamin N. Pennington, Maj. John A. Klinner, Capt. Ariana G. Savino, Tech. Sgt. Ashley B. Pruitt, Capt. Seth R. Koval, Capt. Curtis J. Angst and Tech. Sgt. Tyler H. Simmons.

While we are all feeling the pain at the pump, let us remember those 13 and recognize that our “pain” is nothing compared to the pain of their families, friends, fellow service members and all who knew them. May they all find comfort in the days, months and years ahead.
