FOR SHAME!

My prognostication powers seriously were dulled last week. Was it the stirring top-25 on top-25 upsets swirling around the college game the last two weeks? Could it be the Kansas City Royals’ stunning sweep through the MLB postseason?

Or maybe it was just the fact I picked the St. Louis Rams to win on Monday Night Football and there was a tie in Week 6 on the NFL schedule.

A, B, C or D, all of the above, contributed to the Gridiron Guru’s 7 in Week 6, but I wasn’t alone. Oh no, Aaron Archuleta of Durango, our Week 2 Gridiron Green winner, was right there with me among the biggest losers.

Jake McKie, however, managed to avoid the aforementioned pickin’ pratfalls to score a 13 out of 15 to win the Week 6 Green. McKie of Mancos tied six others atop the leaderboard, but his 24-18 Eagles’ tiebreaker broke our tie, as well.

Week 7

New Orleans at Detroit: The Lions’ d-line is winning football games. Pick: Lions, 30-28. Line: Lions by 3.

Monday, Oct. 20

Houston at Pittsburgh (ESPN): J.J. Watt and the Texans’ gunslinging’ D light a fire under Mike Tomlin’s hot seat. Pick: Texans, 20-17. Line: Steelers by 3½.
