Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4031 will host a number of events to honor fallen service members on Memorial Day weekend.
Buddy Poppies will be on sale at Nature’s Oasis, Tractor Supply and Farmer’s Fresh in Ignacio on May 27 and 28; and Albertsons, both Durango City Markets, Kroegers Ace Hardware and Main Mall on May 28. The flowers are symbolic of service members who died during World War I. The sale of the poppies supports the VFW National Home.
The post and volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. May 28 at the American Legion Memorial to place flags on veterans’ graves. Participants should bring a long Phillips screwdriver to bore holes for the flags.
