Sheep? Got ’em.

Parade? Yes.

Events in the park? Indeed.

Bar D performing Friday night? Yes, they’re coming back!

The 16th annual Bayfield Heritage Days and Sheep Trailing will be underway on Sept. 25 and 26.

The event starts with a kickoff brisket beef dinner on Friday, Sept. 25, with performances by the Bar D Wranglers and The Worleys. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children under the age of 12. They’re on sale now at Pine River Valley Bank, First National Bank of Durango in Bayfield, Southwest Ag and the Pine River Valley Historical Society Museum on Mill Street. The event sells out, so early ticket purchases are recommended.

On Saturday, the Brown family sheep are coming through Bayfield at about 9 a.m., or whenever they are good and ready. After trailing south on the Buck Highway, the parade takes place on Mill Street.

Following the parade, family events follow in Joe Stephenson Park. They include sheep dog trials, wool spinning demonstrations, vendors, food, contests, and lots more.

Activities include the Lions Club train, Southwest Ag pedal cars, a pie eating contest, mummy toilet paper contest, corn hole, gummy worm eating, and face painting sponsored by Bayfield Realty.

Bayfield Heritage Days is a collaborative effort of the Bayfield Lions Club, Pine River Centennial Rotary, the Pine River Vallery Heritage Society, and lots of community volunteers.
