Smith has been Durango’s city attorney for 37 years. During his tenure, he has worked with hundreds of people in our city government. He has worked closely with our elected City councilors from both sides of the aisle (and a few from left field).
He has always conducted himself with great integrity and intelligence. Many things have changed in government over the last 37 years, and he has kept up with these changes. Whether it was new laws handed down from the state Legislature or an ordinance given to us by the voters, Smith has always made sure laws, rules and regulations were followed. He also appreciated people who had done the necessary research when they presented to the City Council. He is very good at explaining things, so people can understand what’s going on in our city government. The job of city attorney is an important job, and you have left some big shoes to fill.
Thanks to David Smith for all the time he has dedicated to the city of Durango and for all those nights he stayed up doing his homework. We appreciate it.
