In the 1970s, the program was terminated due to a disagreement between the San Juan Basin Woolgrowers, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Colorado Department of Agriculture. This was a dispute over payment for injuries suffered by the USDA trapper.

The county formed its own program under the auspices of Commissioners Brennan, Michael and Scott. Dale McCoy provided services to members in La Plata County. When J. Paul was elected county commissioner, he coordinated with the Department of Agriculture, and the ADC program was started again. The program provides services to the residents of Archuleta and La Plata counties, the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, Pine River Irrigation District and many other individuals having problems with wildlife including the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

How somebody can make such statements is beyond belief. I still have the documents from the time that the county ran its own program up to the time that J. Paul got the state of Colorado’s Department of Agriculture to reinstitute the program. This TV clip is trying to tarnish his name and reputation and is ludicrous.

I strongly support J. Paul Brown, as he has been responsible for providing a service to all residents of Archuleta and La Plata counties.

Vote for J.Paul Brown.
