And I am sure that many were in mind of the fates of the supporters of the California rejection of gay-marriage vote while the related and current use of government agencies to deprive Americans of their voice cannot be disregarded (related in that names were made public for use by those in opposition.)

The recall effort did not evaporate at all, it ignoranced, apathied and frightened itself away.
