The Durango STEAM Park project can serve as a catalyst for challenges such as the fire department location, parking and Camino del Rio access, which have been longstanding issues for several years. It also represents an economic development opportunity to create a stronger gateway to downtown from the north. A project like this could become a magnet for other science, theatre, education, arts and music organizations, strengthening Durango’s overall cultural and science offerings.

Regardless of the proposed location for this cultural science park, the ultimate goal of current discourse should be to propel us out of our history of turning our backs to the river into a future that embraces it – further enhancing the quality of life in Durango.
