It’s springtime in Durango, which means it’s time for downtown galleries to open their doors and show off what’s new.
The Spring Gallery Walk will kick off at 5 p.m. Friday.
The event is put on by the Durango Galleries Association and is sponsored by the Durango Creative District.
One of two annual events – the other being the Fall Gallery Walk – the Durango Gallery Association’s members include: Azul Gallery, Create Art & Tea, Diane West Jewelry & Art, Durango Arts Center, Earthen Vessel Gallery, Karyn Gabaldon Fine Arts, Scenic Aperture, Sorrel Sky Gallery, Studio & Gallery, Toh-Atin Gallery and The ArtRoom Collective at the Smiley.

Some of the evening’s highlights include:
Create Art & Tea, 1015 Main Ave., will feature “Three Friends Paint The Seasons,” landscapes by Sharon Abshagen, Maryellen Morrow and Lori Walters. The gallery will also celebrate the evening with a live performance by local musician Ely Cartwright.Diane West Jewelry & Art, 820 Main Ave., will feature Park City, Utah, encaustic artist Bridgette Meinhold who is bringing 15 new pieces to the gallery. Meinhold will also be at the opening from 5 to 8 p.m. The gallery will also showcase local jewelers Pat Hartman and Mary Orsini.Durango Arts Center, 802 East Second Ave., will premiere “Sled Dogs of America,” by Veryl Goodnight.Earthen Vessel, 115 W. Ninth St., will feature the work of Durango artist Cindy Coleman of Duck Girl Art.Karyn Gabaldon Fine Arts, 680 Main Ave., will feature new metal prints by Gabaldon. There will also be jazz music by Jeff Solon and Jack Maynes.Studio &, 1027 Main Ave., will host an opening reception from 5 to 9 p.m. for its latest group exhibition, “Trigger,” which will run through May 21. The show features work by artists including: Mariah Kaminsky, Dan Groth, Miki Harder, Mike Brieger, Mary Ellen Long, Tony Holmquist, Minna Jain, Monica Lousie, Lauren Bell, Erin Mahoney, Colossal Sanders, Maureen May, Jon Bailey, Crystal Hartman, Shawn Lotze, Elizabeth Kinahan, Ilze Aviks, Carol Mehesy, Shay Lopez, Noah Stotz, Roger Seliner and Tim Kapustka. Music for the reception will be provided by Bad Goat.Sorrel Sky Gallery, 828 Main Ave., will feature the work of sculptor Bryce Pettit.Toh-Atin Gallery, 145 W. Ninth St., will feature Navajo flute music by Travis Jensen, a new piece by Leland Holiday, a landscape by Ross Myers and a new Basket Room.
