The fire service was a little different 115 years ago. In this picture, taken inside the firehouse at 134 E. 10th St., the firemen relax between calls. From left to right, they are: William Croke, Henry Dietrich (chief), John Conway, Sam Ethridge and Martin Miller (standing). The horse on the left is Mac and the one on the right is Tige. The horse-drawn fire wagon can be seen in the center of the picture just beyond the fire crew facing the front doors that open to 10th Street.<br><br>Ed Horvat for Animas Museum, edhorvat@animasmuseum.org
