Over $4 million in home energy rebates is available right now for Southwest Colorado residents – and it won’t last long.
Colorado’s Home Electrification and Appliance Rebate Program already drained funds in Region 1 (the Front Range) because of overwhelming demand. Region 2, which covers the rest of the state including us, still has money to distribute. We want to help bring as much of it here as possible.
That’s why 4CORE and La Plata Electric Association are co-hosting Heat Pumps & Home Efficiency Upgrades: Free Help & Up to $14,000 in Rebates – a free community event to answer your questions, assess your situation and help you take the next step. HEAR-approved contractors will be on hand to talk through heat pump technology and what makes sense for your specific home. Program experts from the Colorado Energy Office will help with eligibility and applications. LPEA and 4CORE staff members will help you navigate additional incentives and financing options.
HEAR is income-qualified, but the thresholds are higher than most people expect – up to 150% of Area Median Income, which is $176,250 for a family of four. Households under 80% AMI receive rebates covering 100% of project costs up to the maximum; those between 80% to 150% AMI receive rebates covering 50% of projects up to the maximum. Rebates are applied at point of sale, so no waiting for reimbursement. Up to $14,000 in rebates are available per household, covering heat pump installation (up to $8,000), a heat pump water heater (up to $1,750), electrical panel upgrades (up to $4,000), induction cooktop (up to $840) and more.
Heat pumps are not only two to three times more efficient than traditional heating systems, but they also cool your home, making them a genuine two-for-one upgrade. For households currently on propane or electric resistance heat, the economics are compelling. Even for natural gas customers, the HEAR rebates often make the switch pencil out. For more about heat pumps, check out my December column, “What’s all the hype about heat pumps?”
Every home is different, and a contractor who’s walked through hundreds of them can tell you things a website simply can’t – what equipment fits your layout, whether your panel needs an upgrade first, what the realistic timeline looks like. That’s why we’re bringing everyone together in one place to get your questions answered.
The event will include:
Whether you own or rent, whether you’re ready to move forward or just starting to wonder, this event will be worth your time.
We’re hosting three events across the region: Pagosa Springs on June 9, Durango on June 10 and Towaoc on June 11. Full details can be found at fourcore.org/events. Questions? Reach me at [email protected].
