I was married to Duke for going on 13 years. We had our difficulties and, sadly, our marriage ended in divorce. But during those years, I never once felt threatened in any way, shape or form by this man. Our problems were just that – our problems. Not Sean’s or the Herald’s or anybody else’s, and they remain that way and always will. I was the only logical person with a right to know of Duke’s past, yet I never questioned him about it because it was none of my business. Why Sean or your paper chose to make it the entire county’s business is beyond reason.
By the way, I read the reports via your website, and they did not prove any of the allegations.
Instead of crucifying the man, ask me about those 13 years when I watched him come home from the job, but he never really got away from it. We lived an emotional existence because of his dedication, but I couldn’t hold that against him. Why should you? This touches our entire families and has been very hurtful and disappointing to say the least.
Shame on Sean Smith. I expected more from him than this. As for the Herald … well, this doesn’t really surprise me. Leave this petty foolishness out of the campaign and give us some positive information for a change.
