While some longtime Western Slopers may be hoping for better snow conditions, they were just right for first-time skier Xavier Rittermann. Rittermann was skiing with help from his father, Brian Rittermann, at Chapman Hill. The family just moved to Durango from Hawaii. Durango has had plenty of sunshine and high temperatures in the low 60s for several days. Purgatory got 5 inches of snow six days ago, but nothing since.
