If you made good contact against one of his pitches, that ball would probably fly just as far.

That was Kai Roubideaux this spring in a nutshell.

And that, along with his ability to play either infield corner position and his leadership in general, was more than enough for the now-graduated Ignacio senior pitcher/infielder to be named First Team All-San Juan Basin League ending the 2018 season.

In the voting, Roubideaux garnered 25 of 30 possible points, trailing only Dolores senior infielder/pitcher Justin Purkat (30 out of 30) and Nucla freshman infielder Tyler Wytulka (26/30), and finishing ahead of Dove Creek sophomore infielder/pitcher Ty Smith (24/30).

IHS senior shortstop Trace Lovelace was named a First Team designated hitter.

Ignacio junior outfielder Joe Herrera was named Second Team All-SJBL, while IHS senior catcher Nate Herrera and sophomore infielder/pitcher Ian Weinreich, as a “utility” player, were also recognized.

Dolores’ Rusty Hamilton was voted Coach-of-the-Year after the Bears went 5-1 during regular-season league work and finished 9-12 overall.

IHS finished 4-16 overall and 1-5 in league.
