They want you to think cheap. They want you to be lazy as that helps their almighty bottom line. So the corporations won’t change, can we? Can we realize that plastic bag waste is harming the environment? Can we realize that choosing to use plastic bags affects the quality of our water, land and air that grows the food we eat? Or is it more enjoyable to divide and fight with one another on this issue? Our leaders in Washington, D.C., have been showing us good examples of this behavior.
Thanks to everyone who goes into these stores and brings his or her own bags. You are making a difference. Thanks for supporting other grocery stores in Durango that promote an alternative. At any store in Durango, please refuse a plastic bag for your goods.
If the bag ordinance is enacted, let’s put pressure on city government for the education they promised and make these corporations accountable for change. If it is repealed, keep bringing your reusable bags, keep shopping at local stores and be kind and friendly talking with others about the importance of using reusable bags.
