Simply put, reducing our plastic bag use is just the right thing to do. Dire warnings of health hazards, financial hardship, loss of tourism dollars, lawsuits, etc., have not materialized in any of the municipalities that have banned bags, nor in the entire state of Hawaii, which went bagless in January.

They all seem to be doing just fine without their plastic bags, and there are much more important issues than this on which to expend my energy.
