Additionally, his specialty is exo-astronomy – the discovery and study of other planets in our universe. Understanding the physics of how other planets operate – the relationship between atmospheric composition, temperature and solar radiation – give him a unique insight into what is happening in our world now. His commitment to sustainability is driven by the understanding that our collective actions contribute to anthropogenic climate change, and that any steps the city can take to reduce carbon emissions benefit everyone.
A secondary benefit of reducing emissions is to reduce its energy expenses. While the current drought and mild winter are not definitive evidence of climate change, they do portend what the future may hold if we refuse to acknowledge the source and consequences of our actions.
Dick White listens to constituents with attention and respect. He then – good professor that he is – thoroughly researches all sides of issues in order to render informed decisions that will make Durango a better place to visit and live.
Unfortunately, hard decisions – such as raising utility rates to upgrade the sewage treatment plant – are not always popular. The existing plant requires costly upgrades because previous administrations did not take necessary actions. Utility-rate increases stink, but so does sewage from the antiquated treatment plant.
Help make Durango and the real world a better place. Re-elect Dick White to City Council.
