A portion of every lift ticket sold Monday will be donated to the La Plata County Teacher Appreciation Fund, which was established by Purgatory in 2015 to provide school supplies for teachers and classrooms.
Last year, $10,000 was donated. This year, Vectra Bank donated $1,000 to the fund and will join Purgatory to honor the teachers who attend the benefit with the goal of matching the amount raised last year.
Before Monday, all K-12 school staff, teachers and administrators in the county will be able to buy $30 lift tickets at Purgatory Sports, 2615 Main Ave. On Monday, $35 lift tickets will be available at the ticket window. Eligible school employees can also purchase up to three additional lift tickets at discounted prices for family and friends.
A special celebration for teachers will start at 3 p.m. at Hoody’s.
