Ignacio Priento-Martinez and Alex Vitagliano provided bright spots in a tough season for the Bayfield High School boys soccer team.

Vitagliano was named to the 2013 Southwest Soccer League All-Conference team, while Priento-Martinez received Honorable Mention.

Priento-Martinez was pressed into service in goal after injuries to the Wolverines’ top goalies. He made 61 saves to lead BHS and logged 340 minutes in net, also tops on the team.

Vitagliano missed the early part of the season because of suspension and was pushed into a more defensive role once he returned because of a lack of depth. He scored the Wolverines’ lone goal in a 1-1 game against Center that was called off early because of snow, which resulted in a double forfeit on BHS senior day.

Telluride’s Henry Sosa won the league’s Player of the Year award after leading the league in goals and points per game.

Jesus Aguirre of Alamosa was named the SWSL Keeper of the Year.

Crested Butte coach Than Acuff was named SWSL Coach of the Year after leading the Titans to a 13-3 overall record, including a perfect 12-0 league mark.

BHS finished 0-13 in coach Dave Foster’s first season at the helm.

The Wolverines will return most of their roster after losing only two seniors to graduation.
