The recent uproar has made people rethink whether it should be President Obama’s choice or if it should be held off until a new president is elected.

Personally, I believe that because it is the responsibility of the president to appoint someone in the first place, it should remain this way no matter who is in office. According to Article 2, Section 2, Clause 2 in the U.S. Constitution, as long as the president has consent and approval from the United States Congress, he can use his powers.

Therefore, if the president wants to appoint a new Supreme Court justice, he should be able to.
