Molly Best, 18, a senior at Durango High School and a student council member, begins the Council of Excellence Presentation on Wednesday at DHS. The Council hopes to achieve the National Gold Council of Excellence designation again this year. The DHS Student Council, made up of 31 members, took turns presenting the work they did in 2024 at the school and in the community. They spoke in front of school leadership, parents and the public. The NGOE recognizes and celebrates middle and high school student councils that meet high standards and demonstrate evidence of student service, leadership, voice and engagement. DHS has earned the award many years in a row. (Jerry McBride/Durango Herald)
