A truck with a load of railroad ties went off the east side of U.S. Highway 550 on Friday near the Glacier Club north of Durango. Driver Jerry Dragin of Louisiana said he was pulling off the highway on the shoulder when the motor stalled and before the breaks kicked in, it was already sliding backward down the hill and then over the embankment. The trailer was heading to Silverton and must be unloaded before being pulled out. (Jerry McBride/Durango Herald)
