Escalante Middle School students from left, Adam Brown, 13; Alex Charpentier, music teacher; Ana Cuntz, 13;  Lila Trono, 14; and Bubba Wood, 13, play with the band Quicksand Soup from Moab, Utah, on Friday at the school. The band was there for the Durango Bluegrass Meltdown’s “Bluegrass in Schools” program that has been part of the festival since its second year. This year’s festival will be the 23rd Durango Bluegrass Meltdown, with musicians playing all over town through the weekend.
