Sometimes, all it takes is patience to bring about change. If the supporters of the bag tax would continue to promote and encourage the use of reusable bags, they would probably become more prevalent without City Council forcing a bag tax on all the people in La Plata County. The tax will eventually require additional jobs in city government. Do we really need more people telling us what to do?

The grocery stores are obviously the largest users of disposable bags in the city of Durango, but why are all the other stores exempt – regardless of size? Discrimination maybe or perhaps more money?

Please vote to repeal the bag-tax ordinance.
