Durango Nature Studies will host a full-moon hike under the Hunter’s Moon from 4:45 to 6:45 p.m. Sunday at Falls Creek.

The hike is free for members, and $10 for nonmembers. Leaders will talk about natural history, nocturnal animals, local landforms and moon facts and legends. The hike will focus on astronomy, led by John Buting.

Seniors Outdoors announces activities

The Wednesday Wanderers will meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Santa Rita Park to walk the Animas River Trail. RSVP is not required. Dogs must be on a leash per city ordinance. For more information, call Eric Pahlke at 247-1130.

A Downhill Ski Group is forming. Participants will meet other skiers and ski with a group at their ability level. To be placed in a downhill ski group distribution list, email Bruce Rodman at [email protected]. People should provide a description of their skiing ability (novice, intermediate or expert), home phone number and cellphone number if one is carried on the mountain. Iron Horse to offer locals early registration

The Iron Horse Bicycle Classic will host a “Locals Only” registration party from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 2 at Mountain Bike Specialists, 949 Main Ave. This event will be held before the public online registration opens at 9 a.m. Dec. 3.

Multiple workstations will be set up to allow locals to register for the 2014 IHBC event to be held May 24-26. Credit card, check or cash will be accepted. A paper entry form will be offered, as well.

Beverages, appetizers, coffee and chocolate will be provided by Bread, Steamworks, Desert Sun Coffee Roasters and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.
