It’s encouraging that Durango is finally addressing water usage. I frequently eat out and socialize at local businesses, and it’s frustrating to see large glasses of water and pitchers of water served without being requested. In cities across the West, not doing this is one of the first and simplest ways to save water. People who want water will ask for it.
Instead of requiring new homes and businesses to use appropriate landscaping, we ask them to water only two times a week? It’s long past time for this city to stop being in denial about our water situation and do the right thing to protect our future.
