The department’s air pollution control division said this week it has made a preliminary determination of approval of the permit sought by Energy Fuels, which was granted a radioactive materials license for the proposed Piñon Ridge mill last week.

The draft permit is subject to a public notice period through June 1, during which time people can comment on the proposed uranium and vanadium mill’s ability to meet state regulations.

Energy Fuels hasn’t said when it might begin construction on the mill. Uranium prices are much lower than when Energy Fuels first proposed building it.
