The Gazette reported Thursday that the county originally proposed two toll lanes to widen I-25 between Monument to Castle Rock but county commissioners later passed an emergency resolution opposing them. Commission President Darryl Glenn says the county had to use a template provided by the state.

State transportation commissioner Rocky Scott says he’s worried the county may not be able to change its proposal now.

In a February, U.S. Department of Transportation spokeswoman Megan Sweeney said grant applicants are unable to revise applications.

However, county commissioner Mark Waller says the county’s lobbyist believes details can be changed after the grant is awarded.
