Thus far, we live in the United States and not a war zone country. With the exception of a couple of incidents, our schools are safe. Don’t get me wrong. I think that the situation needs to be addressed. I just don’t believe that introducing a live-and-loaded firearm into a classroom is the way to do it. There are better ways, like stepping up security and having entrances and perimeters monitored by state-of-the-art equipment, silent alarms on the windows and trained, qualified security personnel who can defuse a situation out of sight of young, impressionable children. People who have no legitimate business at the school would never even get close to the building.

This is not Hollywood or a war zone, and school personnel are heroes enough without having to be Rambo wannabes. There is no place for it in our schools.
