The death of a 19-year-old man in June northeast of Durango has been ruled a suicide, according to the La Plata County Coroner’s Office.
Andrew Samora was reported deceased about 10:45 a.m. June 12 on Highland Hill Drive, near the 2000 block of Florida Road (County Road 240) just northeast of city limits.
At the time, the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office said the cause of death was under investigation, including whether it was accidental, suicide or homicide.
The Sheriff’s Office has declined several requests to release additional details about the circumstances of the death, but last week the Coroner’s Office released an autopsy report that ruled the death a suicide.
Authorities have also been vague about Samora’s place of residence, but the Coroner’s Office said the body was sent to a funeral home in Colorado Springs.
According to a toxicology report, Samora had marijuana, cocaine and alcohol in his system at the time of death. His blood-alcohol level was listed at 0.161. By comparison, the legal driving limit in Colorado is 0.08.
