Vendor spaces are still available for Bayfield Heritage Day and Sheep Trailing on Saturday, Sept. 26, in downtown Bayfield. Parade sign-ups also are being taken. The forms for those are available at www.bayfieldcoheritagedays.org or at the Pine River Times office.
Space for arts, crafts, and food vendors is $35. Space is free for community service information or demonstration booths if nothing is being sold, but those entities need to reserve their space in Joe Stephenson Park.
There is no charge to be in the parade.
There are a limited number of tickets available at $20 for the Heritage Day Kick-off beef brisket dinner and Bar-D Wranglers performance Friday evening, Sept. 25, at the old gym on South Street. Tickets are available at the Pine River Heritage Society Museum on Mill Street and Southwest Ag. Heritage Day is a joint effort of the Heritage Society, Bayfield Lions Club, and Pine River Centennial Rotary Club. For information call Carole or Melanie at 884-2331.
Grief support group forming
A grief support group for adults who have experienced a loss due to death will be held on Wednesday evenings starting this month until January. The group is designed to assist people grieving through the holiday season. Sessions will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. in Durango. Commissioner to meet public at fairgrounds
County Commissioner Gwen Lachelt will hold her monthly meet the public session on Monday, Sept. 21, from noon to 2 p.m. at the county fairgrounds extension building Animas Room in Durango. Beginning meditation class offered
Anyone interested in learning about mindfulness and its benefits is welcome at a six-week course in beginning meditation at the Durango Dharma Center. Taught by dharma leader Katherine Barr, the class begins Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and continues successive Wednesdays in October through Nov. 4. There will be no class Sept. 30.

SUCAP Youth Services receives grant
The Southern Ute Community Action Program’s Youth Services Division announces the renewed fourth-year grant award from the Colorado Department of Education’s 21st Century Community Learning Center, as well as a new five-year contract from the Colorado Department of Health’s Office of Behavioral Health. These grants support the Club Venture and Curiosity programs offered through SUCAP Youth Services, provided to Ignacio Middle School and Ignacio High School youth.
