The monthly Pine River Shares community potluck is tomorrow from 5 to 7 p.m. at the old gym on South Street in Bayfield. Anyone from Vallecito to Arboles is welcome. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share if you can, also your own table service. Clothing and non-perishable food items are normally available for people to take. CDOT holding coffee for retiring director
Kerrie Neet, the regional director for CDOT Region 5 RTD, is retiring.
CDOT will host a coffee for her from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, at the maintenance conference room at 20581 US Hwy 160 West. Cake, snacks and drinks will be served, and the public is welcome to attend.
Chili supper, pie auction is Feb. 27
The Pine River Heritage Society annual Cabin Fever Reliever fundraiser will be Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Bayfield Church of Christ, 2011 Bayfield Parkway. Doors open at 6 p.m. Chili and soup will be available for free. A variety of homemade pies and other desserts will be auctioned by auctioneer Ron Dunavant. Pie slices also will be available for $2 each. Music will be provided by Joel (the funny guy) from the Bar-D Wranglers. Proceeds are used to operate and maintain the Heritage Society Museum in downtown Bayfield.
Film office to host Oscar watch party
The Four Corners Film Office is hosting an Oscars Watch Party on Sunday, Feb. 28, at the Bookcase and Barber, located at 601 E. 2nd Avenue in Durango. There will be appetizers, drinks, and the opportunity to socialize with local industry folk and supporters while watching the Oscars from 7 until 10 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person or $40 per couple and include complimentary drink ticket and chances to win prizes. Democrats will caucus on March 1
La Plata County Democratic caucuses to formally nominate a Democratic presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders, start at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1. Caucuses are neighborhood political gatherings. They are often held in schools, libraries, churches, other public buildings, and sometimes private homes. Registered Democrats can find their caucus location through LaPlataDems.org or call Jean Walter at 247-4019.

Tired of renting? Habitat for Humanity of La Plata County is currently taking applications for its Home Ownership Program. Learn to salsa dance at Pine River Library
Have you always wanted to learn to groove to the sensual sounds of Héctor Lavoe, Celia Cruz, and Willie Colón? Well, dream no longer! Starting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, Pine River Library is offering a series of free beginning salsa classes to get your hips moving. In this four-week class, local salsero Kennie Monger will teach participants all the basics of this infectious dance form. Register quickly; the series of classes is limited to 20 participants. Sign up is open to all, no partner necessary.

9Health Fair holding volunteer meeting
Want to do something great for our community and have some fun? 9Health Fair needs volunteers for the 2016 Bayfield Fair to be held on Saturday, May 7. Volunteers who can work one to two hours per week are needed, as well as a few additional folks for the day of the fair.
