The Bayfield Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly meeting and social hour, starting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Community Banks of Colorado. The meeting will be hosted by Coffee News, a weekly community interest newsletter covering Bayfield-Ignacio, Pagosa Springs and Durango.
Chamber members will hear about the group’s new Ambassador program that is reaching out to Bayfield-area businesses to ask them to participate in the chamber and help make it a stronger organization.

Baseball registration due Tuesday
Pine River Youth Baseball is registering youth for Little League baseball. Registration is due March 8. After that, a $25 late fee will be added until the final deadline of March 15. Registration is available online at www.pineriveryouthbaseball.com.

SJMA offering snowshoe tour
San Juan Mountains Association will host a free snowshoe tour at Andrew Lakes in partnership with San Juan National Forest on from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 1. Bring warm clothing, warm boots, hot drinks, binoculars, and a flashlight with a red lens. Snowshoes will be needed. Kids’ and small adult snowshoes are available for free upon request. Meet at the plowed parking area on the east side of Hwy 550 one quarter of a mile north of the Andrew Lake turn off.

Dharma Center offers daylong retreat
Durango Dharma Center leader Erin Treat will offer a daylong retreat on Liberating Awareness: Your Life is Your Practice. This program, to be presented in the new Dharma Center at 1800 East Third Ave., will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 12.
Participants will be invited to allow themselves to touch and be touched by life through the practice of sati (mindfulness). They will have an opportunity to pause and reconnect with the direct experience of body, heart and mind through sitting and walking meditation as well as dharma reflections.
