To assess which candidate is better qualified, please, review the job requirements. The treasurer collects tax dollars, invests them and pays the bills. One candidate has 10 years of accounting and audit experience, as well as a bachelor’s in accounting: Allison Morrissey. Investing $80 million requires having a finance background, or you won’t be able to understand what the “consultants” are recommending. Allison Morrissey has graduate coursework in finance and has worked with CFOs in Fortune 500 companies. We also need someone who has had experience in dealing with financial situations such as La Plata county’s declining revenue on gas revenue; once supplying 46 percent of our revenue base, now down to 37 percent as production declines.

We need a county treasurer who thinks about the big picture as a CEO would, and has had experience in bringing leaders together to solve complex problems. We need someone who has designed and implemented technological solutions to find the best ways to reduce costs. Allison Morrissey did this as an executive at Microsoft. Allison Morrissey has 25 years of experience in leading teams to achieve the most cost effective goals. We need a business leader in this position – it is not a political position, and it should not be held by a career politician. Please for Allison Morrissey for county treasurer.
