The website, started by Silverton resident Tanya Kail on Sunday, had received $2,150 from 31 donors by Tuesday. Many of the donors are anonymous, while others have given their name on the website. The goal is set at $5,000. The funds also will help care for McFarland’s two boys.

McFarland, 32, was a preschool teacher, mother of two and role model for many Silverton residents, according to those interviewed by the Herald.

Her husband, Michael McFarland, is facing second-degree murder charges. McFarland, 31, posted a $20,000 bail Monday after appearing in La Plata County Court.
