I worked with Kim when we taught together at Fort Lewis College. Her love of students and her undying respect for the value of excellent education was deep and infectious. Being around Kim made many of us feel we wanted to teach our best, be our best and work our hardest on behalf of our students.
Kim worked on a variety of important committees and attended student plays, concerts and sports events. She fully immersed herself in the life of a complete education. She also learned the value of time management, which is important as she understands the job of a school board member is time-consuming. Luckily, she has the time to give to the job, as she and her husband are retired.
Kim’s international travels bring to our community a worldview that is not parochial; she has seen the results of little to poor education. She is determined that our children will have opportunities to contribute to the world civically, academically and personally. She understands what must be done to support teachers and administrators and she will work her heart out to that effect.
Kim has three grandchildren attending District 9-R schools, and her son, Jeb Holt, who works for 9-R, has done an outstanding job as liaison for integration. Kim could not be more committed to helping bring balance to our children’s lives. This includes providing excellent academics, teaching healthy lifestyles, preparing for the workforce and cultivating dedicated citizens. Our school board will be enhanced by Kim’s passion.
