Mann will play six different flutes for the program “Around the World in 80 Minutes.” She’ll be joined by several friends, as well: Jonathan Latta, percussion; C. Scott Hagler, piano; Ruth Katzin and Christi Livingston, flute; and Gemma Kavanagh, soprano.

In addition to her C flute and alto flute, Mann also will play the Native American flute and flutes from Ireland, Thailand and India.

Latta will augment the traditional folk melodies with authentic percussion parts.

“Around the World in 80 Minutes” will include a premiere of a new piece for alto flute written by Alta Graham, a former student of Mann’s and a Fort Lewis College graduate, as well as works by Copland, Philip Parker and Katherine Hoover.

Upcoming concerts in the recital series will feature C. Scott Hagler in November in an organ recital celebrating the 20th anniversary of the dedication of St. Mark’s pipe organ. Also, mezzo-soprano Nan Wagner will return from Oregon to join soprano Kavanagh in April to sing everything from opera duets to songs from the “Great American Songbook.”

The season will close May 9 with a performance by trumpeter Marc Reed.
