The Gazette reports 19-year-old Joseph Rodriguez on Tuesday pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree kidnapping under a deal that takes away the first-degree murder charges for the deaths of 15-year-old Derek Greer and 16-year-old Natalie Cano-Partida.

Authorities say the teens were shot in the head at point-blank range in March 2017.

Rodriquez told the court that the teens were kidnapped and brought to his house where he took away their phones.

Rodriquez’s plea comes a day after Gustavo Antonio Marquez pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and agreed to testify against alleged co-conspirators.

Three others are charged in the deaths.
